About Redwood Field Consulting
Founded in Perth in 2011, Redwood Field Consulting helps regional distributors plan warehouses, routes, and freight networks across Western Australia.
Our story
Redwood Field Consulting Pty Ltd was established in 2011 in Perth by Helen Marsh and Greg Tan, two supply chain practitioners who had spent the previous decade working inside WA wholesale and agricultural distribution businesses. They started the firm after repeatedly seeing country retailers let down by delivery promises that looked fine on a Perth whiteboard but fell apart once trucks hit the Great Eastern Highway.
The name reflects our approach: redwood grows slowly and stands for generations — we build distribution plans meant to last through seasonal swings and ownership changes, not quick fixes that unravel at the first harvest peak.
What we do
We advise regional firms on logistics and distribution planning — where to hold stock, how to structure delivery runs, and when a satellite depot makes more sense than running everything from Welshpool. Our clients are wholesalers, co-ops, industrial suppliers, and building material distributors who serve towns from Albany to Broome.
We do not sell software, run a transport company, or take commissions from carriers. Our only product is independent advice grounded in warehouse walks, ride-alongs, and the dispatch data you already have.
Our team
Helen Marsh
Principal Consultant
Former operations director at a South West agricultural wholesaler. Helen specialises in multi-depot networks and seasonal volume planning for grain and fertiliser distributors.
Greg Tan
Senior Logistics Advisor
Greg spent twelve years in fleet management before joining Redwood Field. He leads route assessments and has mapped delivery networks across the Wheatbelt and Goldfields.
Priya Nair
Warehouse Planning Specialist
Priya joined in 2018 after designing pick-face layouts for a national plumbing supplies chain. She handles single-site warehouse planning and slotting reviews.
How we work with clients
We start every engagement by listening to the people who load trucks and answer customer calls — not just the managing director. Site visits are non-negotiable for network reviews because spreadsheets rarely capture a loading dock that floods in winter or a forklift aisle that was narrowed for extra racking.
Reports are written in plain English with cost estimates your finance team can verify. We flag assumptions clearly and distinguish between recommendations you can implement next month and changes that require capital expenditure or lease renegotiation.

Values
- Independence — We recommend what fits your network, not what benefits a software vendor or carrier.
- Regional respect — Country delivery windows and road conditions are constraints, not inconveniences.
- Practical handover — Your dispatchers should be able to run with our recommendations without us on retainer.
